The Next Chapter at JAK

If you’ve visited our website before, you may have noticed it’s been a while since our last update. While our blog has been quiet, life at JAK certainly hasn’t.
Over the past eight years, we’ve had the privilege of working on projects that challenged us, taught us, and continually reminded us why we love this industry. We’ve grown alongside our clients, expanded our team, and, perhaps most importantly, gained a clearer understanding of where we provide the greatest value.
As we look toward the future, we thought this was the perfect time to share where we’ve been—and where we’re headed.
Where We Started
In the beginning, JAK wore a lot of hats. We served as expert witnesses in litigation involving bed bugs and other structural pests, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. We provided consulting and expert analysis for cases involving hotels, nursing homes, national retailers, vacation rental properties, and real estate transactions, helping legal teams and juries understand complex entomological issues and pesticide regulations through both science and real-world experience.
That same curiosity and problem-solving mindset shaped our research and development program, where we screened everything from insects and other arthropods to rodents. While our primary focus has evolved, we continue to support a select group of long-standing research clients.
Dr. Janet Kintz-Early has provided continuing education programs, technical presentations, and professional training for pest management professionals. Education has always been a cornerstone of JAK because an informed industry benefits everyone. That philosophy continues to guide how we work with clients today—not simply helping them understand regulatory requirements, but helping them implement them with confidence.
Together, these experiences laid the foundation for the work we do today.
Where We’re Focused Today
As the company grew, one thing became increasingly clear: the common thread in nearly every project was helping clients navigate the complex and ever-changing world of pesticide regulations.
Our work in research, expert testimony, education, and technical consulting has given us a broad perspective on the industry—from the science behind pesticide products to the practical realities of bringing them to market and using them safely and effectively. Over time, that breadth of experience naturally led us to focus on state and federal pesticide regulatory consulting.
Today, regulatory consulting isn’t simply one of the services we offer—it’s the core of what we do.
Why Our Experience Matters
Every regulatory question exists within a much larger picture.
When clients come to us, we don’t see isolated compliance issues. We consider how regulatory decisions affect product development, business operations, field applications, and the people responsible for putting those products to work. Understanding those connections allows us to provide practical guidance—not just regulatory answers.
That perspective has been earned through more than 50 years of combined experience across research, education, consulting, and regulatory science, and it shapes every recommendation we make.

JAK proudly remains 100% woman-owned and operated, a distinction that is still uncommon within our industry.
While that’s an important part of our story, our reputation has been built on scientific integrity, technical expertise, curiosity, and collaborative problem-solving. We have no ambition to become the largest consulting firm. Instead, we focus on being trusted partners who understand our clients’ challenges, develop practical solutions, and build long-term relationships grounded in trust, responsiveness, and results.
